Trommel Swap Against the Clock

They say every picture tells a story.  Here’s a story of OKAY’s Easter weekend: a pacey upgrade at a 24/7 sorting system and a plant that switched back on at 5pm on Easter Monday, exactly as planned. The new OKAY 2.5m x 9m trommel is now in and running complete with a full fit-out in that area and a new feed conveyor to boot.

Planned to the minute

Antonia Kay, MD of OKAY said, “I’m so proud of what we achieved this weekend.  We planned this site work to the minute and we resourced it fully to ensure it went smoothly.  And here is the result: a near perfect installation .  Most importantly, we have a delighted customer.”

As the Project Manager for the works, OKAY’s Dave Arber explained: “Cutting into a customer’s plant with a limited time window requires precision planning and engineering that fits first time.  In this install, we replaced two old trommels with a large new OKAY trommel.   We had to do some pretty nifty parking to get it into position, but what a great job by the OKAY site team!”

Lowest carbon footprint

OKAY is a British design and build specialist in high performance recycling equipment, which means all equipment is built in the UK at the company’s Northamptonshire manufacturing facility.

Antonia Kay added, “Another factor that’s of evermore importance to everyone is the circular economy.  There are just 70 miles between our factory and our customer’s site.  Carbon footprints don’t come much lower than this, thanks to our UK manufacturing base.”

With the trommel now installed, it will offer its new owner a very long life of waste recycling and be part of the world’s response to climate change.
